Course Information
Medhat Ghabrial, Ph.D., PE, P.Eng., FCPCI, Editor, Chapter Three, presents changes related to the new edition of CSA A23.3 (2014) and the National Building Code of Canada (2015). Changes and updates include dealing with slabs, hollowcore, prestressed and non-prestressed beams and examples dealing with shear and torsion. Dr. Ghabrial highlights a new example on partial prestressing that has been added to the CPCI 5th Edition Design Manual.
About the Presenter
Dr. Ghabrial formerly Vice President of the firm HGS Limited, Windsor, Ontario (now HGS Limited Consulting Engineers). He has been involved in the past thirty five years in virtually every type of structural engineering in Canada and U.S. in addition to overseas projects. A central part of this practice is devoted to the analysis, design of precast concrete structures. Dr. Ghabrial has been personally responsible for designing thousands of completed projects. Dr. Ghabrial is the recipient of CPCI Fellow Award and the CPCI John Fowler Award of Distinction.
